Michael Devon, MD, FAAP

Michael Devon, MD, FAAP

Dr. Michael Devon is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in economics, then spent the next seven years teaching mathematics to junior and senior high school students in Manhattan and suburban Philadelphia. When it was time to make a change, and the teacher decided to become a student once again, he completed the pre-medical post baccalaureate program at Bryn Mawr College and then returned to the University of Pennsylvania to attend medical school. Finding once again that he enjoyed working with children and adolescents, he decided to pursue a career in pediatrics.

Dr. Devon completed his pediatric internship and residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he was asked to serve as Pediatric Chief Resident. He stayed at CHOP for the next four years, serving as a clinician educator while seeing patients and guiding the careers of countless residents and medical students. In 2006 Dr. Devon joined the practice that became Advocare Main Line Pediatrics. He is on the medical staffs of Lankenau, Bryn Mawr, and Paoli Hospitals.

Dr. Devon thoroughly enjoys primary care pediatrics as he spends his days taking care of children from newborns through college students. Dr. Devon and his wife are the parents of three children. He enjoys sports and the outdoors, and finds each day an adventure. Dr. Devon says, "I love my work, and I think that it shows."

Melanie A. Koehler, MD, FAAP

Melanie A. Koehler, MD, FAAP

Dr. Melanie A. Koehler is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A native of Delaware County, she attended Archbishop Prendergast High School, where she was active in musical theater and ballet. She received her bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of Maryland in 1989, then attended Temple University School of Medicine while working as a hematology laboratory technician. Her exposures to pediatrics during medical school convinced her that she wanted to care for and impact the health of children. After receiving her medical degree from Temple in 1993, she completed her pediatric residency training at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

After residency, Dr. Koehler was one of the first pediatricians hired by Temple University to develop a pediatric practice at the University. She and her colleagues were involved in every stage of planning and implementing Temple Pediatric Care. The group was responsible for patient care, as well as teaching medical students. During her eight years at Temple, Dr. Koehler served as an attending physician in the clinic and nursery, and as an Associate Professor in the medical school.

Dr. Koehler joined Advocare Main Line Pediatrics in 2004, working as a full-time pediatrician in both the Narberth and Paoli offices. She maintains active staff privileges at Lankenau, Bryn Mawr, and Paoli Memorial Hospitals, where she makes nursery rounds on a regular basis and participates in the "Getting Ready for Baby" prenatal classes. Dr. Koehler's special interests include breastfeeding support and adolescent health care.

Dr. Koehler and her husband, a Captain in the U.S. Army, have one daughter and reside in Delaware County. The family enjoys camping and traveling together. Dr. Koehler feels that her experiences as a mother add to her effectiveness as a pediatrician. She says, "Being someone's doctor, watching them grow and develop along with their family, is the most satisfying career I could have. I consider myself truly lucky."

Burton H. Langer, MD, FAAP

Burton H. Langer, MD, FAAP

Dr. Burton H. Langer is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, graduated from Cheltenham High School, and attended LaSalle University on a full academic scholarship, earning a bachelor's degree in biology maxima cum laude with general college honors. He received his doctorate of medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Dr. Langer completed his pediatric internship and residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he developed an interest in general pediatrics and entered private practice in 1989. Since 1991 he has been in practice on the Main Line, and on the active staff of Lankenau, Bryn Mawr and Paoli Memorial Hospitals. In 2000 Dr. Langer assumed the role of managing partner of our practice, formerly called Pediatric Associates of the Main Line, continuing in that role as care center vice president of Advocare Main Line Pediatrics. He also serves on the Board of Managers of Advocare, LLP and on its executive committee as the Pennsylvania representative.

Dr. Langer and his wife, who is also a physician, take pride and joy in raising their three daughters, the oldest of whom is considering a career in medicine.

Janet M. Michaelson, MD, FAAP

Dr. Janet M. Michaelson is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) who has been practicing on the Main Line since 1981. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she graduated from Cheltenham High School, where in addition to academics she was active in piano, vocal music, and musical theater. She received her bachelor's degree with honors in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. As a student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, she fell in love with pediatrics during her first rotation at the old Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, formerly located at 17th and Bainbridge Streets. At Penn's Medical School, she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society, and at graduation received the Loewenburg Prize for Excellence in Pediatrics.

Dr. Michaelson completed her pediatric internship and residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP) new facility adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania, where she developed a special interest in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. After her residency she was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar in behavioral pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania/CHOP, where she worked extensively in the field of child abuse and neglect as a member of the SCAN team. During her fellowship she served as an attending pediatrician in the Division of General Pediatrics at CHOP, and also completed an externship in family therapy at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic.

Dr. Michaelson is on the active staff at Lankenau, Bryn Mawr, and Paoli Memorial Hospitals, and maintains her staff affiliation at CHOP. During her years of practice she has been active with the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), serving as the organization's representative to the boards of the Please Touch Museum and the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition. She previously served on the board of the Philadelphia Pediatric Society, and is now a member of the AAP Section on the Media. In May 2002 she was selected as one of the "Best Pediatricians in America" by the Ladies Home Journal. Dr. Michaelson is featured in the 2005 television documentary "Toddler Tales," which can still be seen on the Discovery Health Network. She is a popular speaker at community events related to child health and parenting, and for the past several years has developed and taught the health curriculum at the Torah Academy Girls High School.

Dr. Michaelson and her husband are the proud parents of four grown sons. She is an avid reader, singer, and musician, and enjoys traveling and cooking. She loves her job, and looks forward to seeing her patients and their parents every day. Dr. Michaelson is especially excited to have some "second generation" patients–young children whose parents were her patients in her early years of practice. Dr. Michaelson says, "I feel very fortunate to have a career in pediatrics, where I play an important role in the growth and development of my patients. It is intellectually stimulating, personally rewarding, and fun to follow children and families from infancy to adulthood."

Joshua A. Rabinowitz, DO

Dr. Joshua Rabinowitz received his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in Vermont and his doctor of osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia of Osteopathic Medicine. Since completing his residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1992, he has been practicing general pediatrics on the Main Line in suburban Philadelphia.

Dr. Rabinowitz has served as Division Chief, Newborn Nurseries at Main Line Health System since 1998, and is a member of the Pediatric Executive Committee for Main Line Health and the Strategic Planning Committee for the Nemours/Bryn Mawr Hospital affiliation. In addition to being an adjunct faculty member and preceptor for third and fourth-year medical students from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he has been a preceptor for pediatric residents from the A.I. duPont Children's Hospital and a preceptor for nurse practitioner students from the University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University Schools of Nursing. He is on the active staff of the Main Line Health Hospitals (Lankenau, Bryn Mawr and Paoli Memorial) and is an affiliate staff member of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Rabinowtiz has also been interviewed by local TV news stations on topics ranging from "back to school preparedness" to the "influenza epidemic" to "ADHD and Michael Phelps." He lives in Mt. Airy and is the proud father of three wonderful children.

Mindy F. Rosenblum, MD

Mindy F. Rosenblum, MD

Dr. Mindy F. Rosenblum is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. She was born and raised in New York, where she attended the Bronx High School of Science and graduated magna cum laude from Stern College of Yeshiva University. Dr. Rosenblum, her brother, and her husband all received their medical degree from New York's Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she also completed her pediatric internship and residency.

Upon moving to Philadelphia with her husband and two children, Dr. Rosenblum completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), then opened her own private practice in general pediatrics while she continued to work and attend in CHOP's Endocrinology Department. Dr. Rosenblum has also precepted medical students in the emergency department at CHOP and has been a pediatric attending in CHOP's Monday afternoon general pediatric clinic. In 2001 Dr. Rosenblum was named a "Top Doc for Kids" by Philadelphia magazine. Dr. Rosenblum continues to mentor medical students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine who rotate through our pediatric office.

Dr. Rosenblum has four married children. Her first was born during her first year of medical school, her second during her internship, her third during her fellowship, and her fourth when she had just started her own pediatric practice. Dr. Rosenblum's two older daughters attended Jefferson Medical College and are both board certified pediatricians. Her son is a rabbinic student and her youngest daughter is currently a nursing student. Dr. Rosenblum's husband, Dr. Jay Rosenblum, is a radiologist at Main Line Diagnostic Imaging. The Rosenblums are blessed with grandchildren numbering in the double digits. She is also blessed to be able to get up each day, go to work and continue to 'make a difference' in people's lives.

Eve Bosnick, MSN, CRNP

Eve Bosnick, MSN, CRNP

Eve Bosnick received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo in 1981 and earned her master's degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. She has more than two decades of experience in the primary care of pediatric and adolescent patients and their families, serving in schools, hospitals, and the community. Eve has been trained as a Pediatric Sexual Assault Examiner at the University of Pennsylvania. Since 1995 she has held a part-time appointment at the University of Pennsylvania as Associate Clinical Faculty in the School of Nursing Division of Family and Community Health, where she is responsible for teaching and training nurse practitioner students in general pediatric primary care and specialty adolescent health services. She is presently the primary investigator on a study examining teens' health media usage and asthma severity, and is an investigator on a study around obesity management in primary care at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Eve's clinical practice focus for the past 15 years has been the care of adolescents by providing comprehensive preventive care around sexual/reproductive health, risk screening, and reduction. Her publications include an American Nurses Association Independent Study module, "Adolescence – a time for opportunity" (2003); a video teaching the pelvic exam; and consultation on two text books.

Eve's philosophy of care is described by the biopsychosocial model, which emphasizes the relationship of psychosocial and developmental factors to wellness and in the assessment of illness. Eve says, " In 2010, the challenges to growing up to adulthood are far more risky than ever before. Teens and their parents need compassion, support, and coaching from their health providers to be successful."

Eve is the mother of two college-age children who she proudly admits have so far successfully navigated adolescence!

Dallas Smith, MSN, CRNP

Dallas Smith is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, she attended Ursuline Academy where she developed her passion for the sciences. Pursuing her interest in healthcare and biology, she attended La Salle University on a full Christian Brother's Academic Scholarship. She graduated magna cum laude from the University Honor's Program with her BSN and a minor in English. During her undergraduate career, she gained valuable clinical experience through her work as a member of the float team at Cape Regional Medical Center. Additionally, she completed an externship on the cardiac critical care unit at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

While at LaSalle, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Honor Society of Alpha Epsilon. Dallas was awarded the 2009 Student Activity Achievement Award for her service and significant contributions to the LaSalle community and served on the Executive Board of the La Salle Ambassadors. She was a university writing fellow and tutored a variety of science courses. She is most proud of her work with Peer Educators, a group dedicated to promoting mental health and positive lifestyle choices both on and off campus.

Dallas Smith completed her graduate education at the University of Pennsylvania in the Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Her clinical experiences at UPenn afforded Dallas exposure to a wide variety of pediatric populations both in and beyond Philadelphia. She studied under a range of physicians and nurse practitioners and gained an abundant skill set in urban clinics, suburban private practices, and emergency rooms. Dallas especially enjoyed her time rounding in the newborn nursery at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She completed her final graduate clinical at Advocare Main Line Pediatrics. She fell in love with the philosophy of the practice and its overwhelming dedication to its patients. She was thrilled to join the practice shortly after her graduation. Dallas has a special interest in working with the newborn populations as well as developmental pediatrics. When not at work, Dallas enjoys the music and cultural experiences of living in center city Philadelphia and weekend trips to her family home in Avalon, New Jersey where she enjoys swimming and surfing.

Katherine Thompson, MSN, CRNP

Katherine "Katie" Thompson joined Advocare Main Line Pediatrics as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2010. She earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Katie previously served as a pediatric nurse practitioner at The Chidren's Hospital of Philadelphia Care Network and Primary Care Centers. Since 2007 she has held a part-time appointment at the University of Pennsylvania as Associate Clinical Faculty in the School of Nursing Division of Family and Community Health, where she is responsible for teaching and training nurse practitioner students in general pediatric primary care. Katie is also involved in several community service organzations including serving as a mentor and volunteer school nurse at a small community grade school in North Philadelphia. Katie and her husband reside in Ardmore with their three young daughters.
