Winter Health ReminderThe snowy days of winter also bring cold and flu season. Common cold and flu viruses are most commonly spread by contact—touching doorknobs, desks, and items where other people have left viral germs behind. Be sure to get your influenza vaccine, and protect yourself and your family by remembering to wash hands frequently throughout the day, particularly before meals. Use soap and water or hand sanitizer and cleanse thoroughly. This is also the time to check that your carbon monoxide detectors and heating systems are working properly. Carbon monoxide is an odorless gas that can be lethal. A few minutes of inspection can provide life-saving protection. Shoveling snow? Bend with your knees, not your back, and take it easy.
