Biopsies
Sometimes biopsies are needed to determine if something is benign or cancerous. Biopsies can usually be taken from any outside surface, or from inside the uterus in the case of abnormal uterine bleeding, without the need for anesthesia or major surgery. We have the equipment to safely and quickly perform most biopsies in the office. If you have abnormal uterine bleeding, have a concerning bump or lesion on the inside or outside of your vagina, and would like to be evaluated for possible biopsy, please call our office for an appointment at (856) 772-2300, or click here.

Colposcopy
Usually, the first step in management of an abnormal PAP smear is a colposcopy. A colposcope is a magnifying scope, similar to a microscope, that allows our physicians to look for abnormalities on the cervix. If needed, biopsies can be obtained during the colposcopy. The physicians at Advocare Premier OB/GYN of South Jersey have been performing colposcopy for many years, and are able to offer this quick and simple procedure in the comfort of the office. If you have an abnormal PAP smear and would like to make an appointment to discuss colposcopy, please call us at (856) 772-2300, or click here.
daVinci® Minimally Invasive Surgery
Dr. Grossman was the first physician in South Jersey to perform a "robotic" hysterectomy using the new daVinci S HD Surgical System. daVinci minimally invasive surgical procedures are associated with less bleeding, less pain, shorter hospital stays, and a faster return to normal activities. The daVinci laparoscopic surgical system can be used to treat benign and malignant conditions of the uterus, including heavy bleeding, fibroids, pelvic pain, uterine prolapse, and gynecological cancers. For more information about daVinci surgery, visit www.davincisurgery.com/gynecology.
Fibroids
Fibroids, also known as "leiomyomas" or "leiomyomata", are common, benign growths of the uterine muscle. Often, fibroids cause no symptoms and can go undetected for many years. Sometimes, fibroids grow larger or are associated with heavy and painful periods that don't respond as well to hormonal treatments. Fibroids can cause bowel and bladder discomfort if they grow large and press on these pelvic structures, and sometimes fibroids can be a cause of recurrent miscarriage, infertility, and painful sexual intercourse. At Premier Obstetrics OB/GYN of South Jersey, we can discuss medical and surgical options for the management of problematic fibroids. Call us at (856) 772-2300 for an appointment to discuss fibroids, or click here.
Genetic Screening
Our physicians are trained to counsel patients about genetic factors that may increase a patient's risk of developing breast, ovarian, colon, and other cancers. Through our work with Myriad genetics, we are able to offer BRCA testing in the office (no blood required!), and we can arrange for other genetic testing or counseling as indicated. HPV Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
HPV refers to a family of viruses, some strains of which can affect the cervix and eventually lead to cervical cancer. Other strains may cause genital warts, or warts in other parts of the body, but have no effect on the cervix. Current recommendations are for women over the age of 30 to have high risk HPV testing along with their annual PAP tests.
HPV Vaccine
The currently available HPV vaccine, Gardasil, protects against four types of HPV virus, including two high risk strains that are responsible for most cervical cancer cases in our country. Gardasil is given as a series of three injections, and is available for girls and young women between the ages of 9 and 26. Please visit www.gardasil.com for more information about this vaccine.
Laparoscopy, Laparoscopic Surgery
We offer minimally invasive procedures when possible. Laparoscopy involves placing a skinny camera through a small (usually less than 1/2 inch) incision in the abdomen, and performing surgery through similarly small incisions. Laparoscopic surgery usually results in shorter hospital stays, fewer complications, and a quicker return to normal activities. Our office can schedule either "traditional" laparoscopic procedures, as well as the most advanced daVinci laparoscopic procedures. For a surgical consultation or a second opinion appointment, call our office at (856) 772-2300 or click here.
Menopause Management
Our physicians keep up to date with the latest research about hormone replacement therapy (HRT), for treatment of menopausal symptoms. If hormonal medications are not right for you, we can discuss alternatives to traditional HRT, in order to help you with your hot flashes, night sweats, and to minimize or prevent bone loss.
Pap
Test A Pap test, often referred to as a Pap smear, involves obtaining a sample of cells from your cervix (the bottom-most part of your uterus), and looking for abnormal changes that may one day lead to cervical cancer. You should have your first Pap test within three years of having sexual intercourse, or at the age of 21, whichever comes first.
PMS/PMDD Management
Do you have "PMS" symptoms around the time of your period? Symptoms may include angry and irritable moods, crying spells, insomnia, breast tenderness and bloating, among other things.
