Managing healthcare risk is challenging due to the interplay of clinical complexities, evolving technologies, and stringent regulations. Effective risk management demands expertise, foresight, and a focus on resiliency. Jeremy actively applies his expertise in healthcare risk management to mitigate risks, enhance patient outcomes, and ensure operational stability. He anticipates and adapts to emerging risks making him a valuable resource across healthcare delivery providers.
Jeremy's interest in healthcare began as a volunteer in a hospital during high school and continued in emergency medical services while in college. He advanced in healthcare by taking on progressively more significant roles, working with organizations ranging from local emergency medical services to multi-hospital systems, and delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, and operational efficiency. He has implemented successful risk management strategies that address existing challenges and proactively prevent future issues. Notably, he led a team effort that achieved a 60% reduction in serious preventable harm events and elevated Leapfrog Safety Grades from a B to an A, highlighting success in improving patient safety metrics and overall quality of care through collaboration.
In addition to his early career as a paramedic, Jeremy blended his clinical experience with risk management expertise by working with a national specialty lines property and casualty insurer in both claims and as a loss control consultant. This foundation gives him a unique, hands-on perspective on the challenges faced by frontline healthcare workers. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College and numerous professional designations, including Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC), Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM), and Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
Jeremy's expertise has been recognized through speaking engagements at national forums on risk management, quality, and high-reliability principles. However, he finds the most fulfillment in providing creative yet practical guidance and developing solutions that directly impact practices and patients, reducing risk and improving quality and patient safety. His approach emphasizes innovative methods that are grounded in real-world applicability, ensuring benefits for both providers and patients. He remains dedicated to advancing healthcare risk management and patient safety by educating and supporting healthcare professionals.
