Led by Owners Drs. Chaplinski, Houff, Kugan, Lehane, and Walter, Brandywine Pediatrics fosters strong patient-family relationships within the medical home model. The practice includes six Board-Certified pediatricians, four Board-Certified pediatric nurse practitioners, a Board-Certified lactation consultant, and an on-site psychologist, ensuring comprehensive and consistent care. Open seven days a week with after-hours telephone availability, their single office location provides personalized service, supported by on-site billing and insurance specialists. Dr. Chaplinski, a Board-Certified pediatrician, joined Brandywine Pediatrics in 2013. A graduate of Jefferson Medical College, she completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children and served as a chief resident at INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children. With a background as a hospitalist and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Dr. Chaplinski’s professional interests include family education and infectious diseases.
Dr. Houff, a Delaware native, became part of Brandywine Pediatrics in 2020. She earned her degree in Biology with honors from Bryn Mawr College and completed her medical training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her residency at Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children was distinguished by receiving the Dr. McDermott Award for Excellence in Primary Care.
Dr. Kugan joined Brandywine Pediatrics in 2021 after five years of practice in Central Pennsylvania. A graduate of Temple University and the University of California, Los Angeles, she brings a focus on nutrition and international health. Dr. Kugan’s experience underscores her dedication to holistic pediatric care.
Returning to her Wilmington roots, Dr. Lehane joined Brandywine Pediatrics in 2010. A graduate of Jefferson Medical College with residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, she honed her skills as an Assistant Professor at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Lehane’s patient-centered approach has earned her recognition, including a Patient Satisfaction Award in 2009.
Dr. Walter has been a cornerstone of Brandywine Pediatrics since 1998. A graduate of Northwestern University’s accelerated medical program, he completed his residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Dr. Walter’s accolades include being named a Top Doctor annually since 2015 and serving as a frequent media contributor and podcast cohost. His special interests include sports and adolescent medicine, and he has led various pediatric educational programs.
